Neighborhood Camping at Silver Springs 2014

We went camping this last weekend at Silver Springs Campground outside of Mount Rainier National Park on the White River.   Great time with friends.  The boys enjoyed themselves running all over the place and going on adventures.   At one point they got too adventurous and wondered off with bigger kids to the other end of the campground leaving us to scramble.   Not fun.   But otherwise a great camping trip.

Highlights include the big trip to the river with adventures through the water, tag playing around camp, good food, the extreme fire making skills required to keep the wood lit, popcorn scavengers, bike riding around the circle, smores, relaxing with friends around the campfire, etc…

Below are the pics and video of the trip.  Looking forward to doing it again next year.’

Olin’s 4th Birthday

We had a great 4th Birthday.  What a special day for Olin.  He woke up excited and it continued throughout the whole day.  So special to have Grandma and Grandpa there, along with Uncle Dave and Aunt Mary Lynn.   His friends were great and made it so memorable for him.   And check out the decorations Kim made!   Wow.

Troncones Mexico Trip

We had a wonderful trip to Troncones Mexico with the Steckler Family.  Walking off the airplane in Zihuatenejo, and feeling the warmth flood over us was just the beginning of a great week.  We spent a ton of time in the pool, napping (shout out to the nap zone), eating a ton of great food (favorites include Ani’s cooking at the house of fish, crepes, tortillas, guac and huevos rancheros and the food we ate out at Rufi’s and Eden), fun Eco-Tour kayak, playing video games, drinking beer in the pool and eating quac, building sand castles, making friends with Julia and Ani, listening to the waves, two boys getting eaten alive from mosquitos, and keeping a very nice slow pace throughout the whole week.  What a vacation.  Unforgettable.

Here are a big set of pictures that are just a portion of the trip.  Video will come at some point.

2010 Year in Review

We had a very good 2010. Before we get too far into 2011, I wanted to take a moment to reflect. We had lots of fun exploring our home in Seattle. Went on trips all over the area with lots of visits to the Zoo, Aquarium and events around Western Washington. Visits from family and friends were highlights plus big trips to Indiana and California. There were many a dance party in the house … the boys liked Technotronic and Boys2Men…. Kim and I liked Bon Jovi and other 80’s hair metal (hence the music in the video).

Worked consumed both Kim and I, with her job being 24/7 (thank you so much Kim).

The boys grew up a lot this year and watching this video makes me so shocked about how big Olin has gotten. He turns 2 tomorrow. We have a big 2011 ahead of us.

Halloween Festivities Begin

Friday began with a trip to Sander’s school for the “Halloween Parade”.  All the kids dressed up and parading for the parents.  The evening ended with a big trip to Magnolia village for some trick-or-treating with Sander’s friend Henry and his family.  Lots of fun.

Summer Vacation

We were lucky to get to spend sometime in the Bay Area this summer with family and friends. We moved around a lot; we stayed in the East Bay, San Francisco and the North Bay. We started out in the East Bay with an all important Mom’s Group 4th birthday party. Perhaps much more of a celebration for us Mom’s. We were very happy that we were able to attend this year. It was a beautiful day at Aquatic Park in Berkeley to visit with all the other families.

Then we headed to Triple E & A’s house. They were very gracious hosts and the kids as always had a fabulous time. They even arranged for some construction work to go on across the street, which provided some great entertainment for the kids.

O and E tried their hand at video games.

Bring it!

Then onto Camp Castro in San Francisco. Where they had also arranged for some construction work for us to provide even more entertainment. We had great adventures including visits to see GG, where O’s toy of choice was a pill bottle (empty and clean); a trip to the California Academy of Science; playing with the big cousins (a highlight was picking them up a school); and girls night out.

Then it was up to the north bay where the boys stayed a night with Nee Nee and Uncle Sven before we all made our way to Sebastopol for the rest of the week. Chris was able to take some time off and we got to go on adventures around the area. We also had the the luxury of having a kid free day in wine country. The boys had a great time playing with Gran. We fit about 4 dates into one day, breakfast in Healdsburg and a little shopping, wine tasting, picnic lunch at Bella Winery, then a movie and dinner. We also rounded out the week with trips to the park, beach, whale watching and train town.

Enjoying the quiet (and her iphone).
What's better than digging a big hole?
A ride at Train town.

We ended the trip watching our friends Karna and Chris get married. Oh and there also was trying to get a Douglas Family picture (see below). Thanks again to all who were able to fit in seeing us and we wish we could of seen everyone.
